Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival

In 2018, I was on the curatorial panel for the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival, an annual multidisciplinary arts celebration in the city of San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 2008 by then-Mayor Phil Harberger, Luminaria was inspired by Nuit Blanche in Paris and Madrid’s La Noche en Blanco.

A weekend-long event, Luminaria rotates locations in neighborhoods throughout the city. For the 10th year Anniversary of Luminaria, the theme of the 2018 Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival centered on San Antonio’s Tricentennial and was housed in Hemisfair Park. Artists were asked to consider the history, place, and culture of the city. An estimated 20,000 visitors enjoyed the programming
