Illuminating the City with Art

It was a pleasure being on the 2018 Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival Curatorial Committee. I was blessed to work with a fantastic team of individuals with diverse discipline expertise in the artwork selection process, along with the amazing staff of Luminaria that manages to successfully put on such a large-scale and fantastic after-dark arts festival every year. The festival which ran Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11, 2018, continuously gains more momentum and ground. Over the years, I have enjoyed attending the festival as a patron, but this year it was a wonderful experience to see it operating from the inside.

So many talented people were included. You can find the full list of featured artists here: http://www.luminariasa.org/artists/featured.cfm

Since I no longer live in San Antonio, it is with great joy that I can return to the city for creative projects. Taking part in Luminaria this year in a Curatorial capacity, and flying back to see it in its culmination was such an inspiring experience. I spent the whole plane ride returning to my new home excitedly jotting down ideas for perhaps designing a smaller-scaled lights festival there. I love art projects that have a positive impact on the community, and this festival does a fantastic job of being a gateway for its citizens from all backgrounds to enjoy art. I’m honored to have been able to take a small part in the amazing production of San Antonio’s Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival.
